You will certainly have noticed that in recent years the repair of Brno city centre has begun, and in some cases has already finished, especially the reconstruction of Moravske Namesti (134 million CZK), Husova street (205 million CZK) and Joštova street during last year (290 million CZK). During the first six months of 2012 the city centre will see partially restricted traffic as Orli, Meninska and Novobranska streets will be repaired. However the focus is also aimed at the majority of the city's neighbourhoods and not only the city centre.

There are 21 flights out of Brno Airport

This year the BRNO AIRPORT company marks ten years of operating the Brno - Turany international airport. In 2002 we took over the operation of the airport from the then Czech Airport Administration and were also obliged to develop the public Brno - Turany international airport. The development thus far shows that this step was a very important turning point in the area of operating regional airports in the Czech Republic. This was the first step of after several years of preparation for gaining independence for the regional airports. Two years later, also based on the entry of the Czech Republic into the European Union and the ability to draw on funds from the development funds of the EU, the property of the Brno, Ostrava and Karlovy - Vary regional airports was transferred to the respective regional governments. The director of Brno Airport, Tomas Placek, speaks about the development and the perspectives of the airport.

In 2010 - 2012 villa Tugendhat underwent its second renovation (the first renovation was carried out in 1981 - 1985). The project was prepared by the collective work of three architectural studios: Omnia projekt, Archteam and RAW. The main objectives were an accurate survey of the building, architectural - historical and restoration surveys. The project had the ambition to restore the building to its original condition from the years 1930 - 1938. Based on the careful analysis of the original blue prints and photos and the findings of the completed surveys, the rate of preservation of the original substance was established and it was considerable.

The building, where actor Hugo Haas spent part of his life on Biskupska Street in Brno, had been near derelict for many years. The reconstruction has been carried out by a private investor who has transformed the ruin into a residential apartment building with exclusive apartments. House number eight on Biskupska Street was built in the early 20th century at the location known today as the Francis and Denis Gardens. The brothers Haas spent part of their life there – Hugo, was a well known actor and Pavel a world famous composer. There is a memorial plaque on the façade of the building as a permanant reminder of its most famous residents.

Brno companies ranked very highly in both competitions.

127,000 sq m of industrial space was rented by companies across the South Moravian Region over the previous quarter. Roughly the same area was rented by companies in the remaining parts of the Czech Republic. In the South Moravian Region, companies focused their interest exclusively on Brno.
